Day 37 and I am feeling great

Day 37 and I am feeling great ! A little hungry, but great. I woke up and had my Bigelow herbal lemon and ginger tea then went and ran an errand and hit Smoothie King
for a wheat grass shot and a Carrot Kale Dream smoothie  , afterwards I went to the gym and hit the treadmill for 2.71 miles of walking. Tomorrow is the day that I drop my 1 meal a day from here on out . I will have a home made smoothie and then just juice for the rest of the day. Of course adding in water and my hot tea too.

Carrot Kale Dream .... yummy ! It tasted like a Dreamsicle.

So wish me lots of luck ! This is going to be like juicing from day 1. But I will make it.

37/90 days down. 53 more days to go.... of which will be juices and smoothies only. (but I may go for 60 days)

Birthday Bash

Today is day 36 juicing and eating for me and I fell off the wagon quite a bit. I planned to : (1) being it is my daughter's 10th birthday ( 2) to try to eat for a few days before I switch to full on juicing...eating more than I have been .... So today we had Ella's party and I had pizza and a cupcake and ice cream then later another cupcake and ice cream at home. yikes ! I also had diet soda which tasted really horrible to me, like chemicals. So now I have a bloated tummy ache. Paying for my 2 feet of choices here. (you know that hand to mouth decision) And knowing that this was only a one time thing. Feeling it was too. But i am not beating myself up over it because it was planned and I have no regrets. Except the soda. blech. I haven't had soda in almost 2 months and wow what a difference 2 months makes. Back to juicing tomorrow except I will be full on juicing , dropping my one meal per day that I was eating for the past 36 days. I hope I can do this. Or rather I know I can, I just have to fight the urges to eat food. It is going to be hard but I can get through this.

Lots to look forward to in April:

Starting April 1st I am in a group that is doing a Spring into Shape exercise challenge. So this will help to keep me motivated and accountable as well for April. And April 19th I have the Biggest Loser 5K Walk. I am still training for it....just a bit worried about my hip because around mile 2 my hip and back have been giving me trouble and I have another mile to go before finishing. So lots more training to do these next 3 weeks before the big day.

Some pictures for you:

Happy Holi ! Happy Spring !

Happy Holi !  We attended our first Holi festival today and had a blast. If you aren't familiar with what one is it's a festival of colors to celebrate spring's arrival. It is also a cultural event but it is celebrated all over the world, not just in India. It is traditionally celebrated on Phalgun Purnima which comes the end of February or early March. The Holi festival has an ancient origin and celebrates the triumph of 'good' over 'bad'. The colorful festival bridges the social gap. On this day, people hug and wish each other 'Happy Holi'.

We had a wonderful time. We threw a few colors , as you can see from my photos below. Tasted a bit of Indian food and soda. So super yummy, enjoyed the Indian music and most of all had a wonderful family day out.

Me and my girls celebrating Holi.

 Hubby , isn't he handsome?

Indian Soda, yummy. I know, I know, not considered part of my juicing plan, but it was so tasty and refreshing on such a hot day.

Neurology Appointment

I went to the neurologist today. Good news is my blood pressure was 93/65 and he lowered my bp med dosage and decreased it to once a day. so i will be off of it completely next visit. :) i did however gain 2 lbs back :/ but i can deal with that . it just comes off slowly and i have to learn to deal with that. bad news is surgery is out because i will be living with my back and neck pain and migraines for the rest of my life, so he said. he said surgery wont help my back and my neck is too risky because its at the base of my brain. It's a bit frustrating. I was hoping for some type of relief or answer other than what I received, but I will just have to learn to cope.

Time to Change it up a bit

It's time to change things up a bit. Shake things up and see if my weight loss doesn't kick start once again. Today I started walking 2 miles on the treadmill at the gym and that was a major victory for me . Up until now I have been waking and having a herbal hot tea, drinking a juice then another hot tea and a juice mid morning then an early dinner (or late lunch) . I drink lots of water and iced tea. I use sweet n low and stevia for my sweeteners if any is used. I also add in one smoothie a day usually in the evening and I try to get in another juice in the evening as well as another herbal tea before bed.
But my weight loss has hit a wall. I am now currently at 296. I finally got the scale to move down and it did , 2 lbs but I see others losing weight a bit faster than this and so I think I am going to change things up a bit because I think my body is used to my routine now. So here I am , going in to day 27 tomorrow and I am going to start off with my herbal tea then have breakfast and then juice the rest of the day, with trying to get in 3 juices if not more. But if this does not have positive results by day 35, then I will go in to full juicing with no eating.
So wish me luck as I venture in to this new eating and juicing plan. I am hoping it tricks my body out if it's old routine and in to a new one. But then again, like someone else in one of my juicing groups told me, the more you juice, the more you lose and I don't think I have been getting enough juice lately. I started off on track with juicing and have fallen back some with it lately. So I think dropping the daily smoothie and replacing it with juice will help some too. What do you think?
As well as walking 2 miles a day on the treadmill at the gym which that will increase shortly to 3 miles as I am still training for my 5K Biggest Loser Walk fast approaching (April 19).

So wish me luck on this St. Patrick's Day.

Weekend

This weekend was a productive one. I worked out Saturday and juiced. But then paid for my workout with a severe back pain all day and night. No matter what I did or took for it, I was still in pain. I didn't sleep well. Sunday I woke up at 7 a.m. and waited until noon to go work out, still in pain a bit, but I wanted to at-least go an walk on the treadmill, which I did. (1.68 miles) I juiced a bit Sunday but I let the cravings get the better of me and caved. We had pizza for lunch and so I did too. I am not going to fret about it. Just move on with my juicing and tomorrow is a new day :)

Now it's Monday, my back is feeling better. It did hurt a bit on Sunday. I can't wait until I see the neurologist again because I am going to ask him about surgery once more. Something has got to work to fix this back of mine or at least alleviate some of the pain instead of all of these meds.

Day 24 here we go. 6 days until I reach my 3rd 10 day goal. And I am not going to weigh until then. Or at least I am going to try not to (weighing daily is my weakness, lol)

Joe the Juicer

My tweet .... His reply.....
How awesome is that?
Such a motivator to keep on moving forward. I so needed this today.

20 Day Goal Reached .....Workout #1

What a way to celebrate reaching my 2nd milestone of 20 days juicing than with a workout. Workout #1 was FANTASTIC !!! My back was hurting and I had a bit of a headache going in but once I got going , the better I felt. Especially ending with a 30 minute mile on the treadmill. I took it slow as I didn't want to over do it. I feel so relaxed now. I could sleep like a baby. (and probably will, nap like one anyways, it's 6:01 a.m.) I think I spent about 45 minutes at the gym, maybe more. Next time I will time myself.

So I am all official, signed up, worked out, got my membership pack, car decal, ink pen and t-shirt (free of course) and am ready to go again and again.

Now time to make my morning juice.
Hope today is a fantastic one.
Juice on !
20/90-70 more days to go !

  • Carrots - 6 medium
  • Sweet Potato - 1 sweet potato
  • Pinch of Cinnamon after juiced all ingredients

Directions

Process all ingredients in a juicer, shake or stir and serve.Yum !

My weight has stalled out. Today is day 19. I have hit a Juicing plateau. I did not think this was even possible but I guess with any lifestyle change, diet, it is. So I signed up for a gym membership in hopes that the added exercise will kick start my weight loss back in to gear. And it's also to help train me for my 5K and get me in better shape too. I will go tonight as I used to go late nights and work out.  But I think I will go tonight before it gets too late plus I am excited to get to go work out. I love going to the gym.

19/90.  71 more days to go before I finish my Dr's challenge. It feels like it's going by way fast too. Especially bow that my weight has stalled. But I am sticking to this challenge. Not gonna give up. Still hanging in there. And Tomorrow I reach my 2nd mini goal of 10 days . :)

Now time to lace up my shoes, brush my teeth and hair and go to the gym.
Then home for a refreshing Sweet Potato Pie Juice.

My Desktop image

This is what I look at everyday... Every time I turn on my computer, it's there as a constant reminder ... Except I am going for 90 days instead of just 30 days. But it still means the same ... The choice is all mine. Only I can choose what goes in to my body to give me fuel. Food after all is for fuel and survival. And I should treat it that way.

I discovered a new juice recipe I love . Yummy for a sweet treat or morning breakfast.
Handful of Strawberries
2Apples
2 Carrots
1 Grapefruit

Time to go for a walk. I wonder if the track is open today on campus. I hope so. I have 5 weeks left to train for my 5K walk. And after today it is going to be raining for the next 6 days straight.  If the track is not available I will go to the park instead. It's nice outside today.

Well hello there Two-Ville !

Day 15 and I hit a new milestone today and I am so super excited. I could not believe my eyes when
I weighed this morning. I am down to 298.1 !! Juice fasting is just beyond amazing , it's miraculous . I am feeling great, headaches are getting less but I still have back aches but that is to be expected. I have 2 bad disks in my back and neck for a total of 4.... so it's to be expected. I used to feel when it was time to take my pills, I could feel this horrible withdrawal but now I am not feeling this ... it's like I feel "NORMAL". I can not wait until I return to the doctor at around the 60 day mark because I am going to ask to have some of my meds decreased and work towards removing some of them. Of course with proper blood/lab tests.

Today I walked for 10 minutes. There was a track meet on campus. So I parked my car and walked on campus a bit. 10 minutes is better than nothing, my back was hurting so today was a short day for walking. I will do another walk later in the neighborhood with Rick and the girls. or I will do one of the Leslie Sansone Walk at Home, indoors DVDs I checked out at the library at a few days ago.

Oh, I picked up like $12 worth of fresh strawberries from Wal-Mart before my walk this morning. They had them for $1.48 a pound. I came home and cleaned them, cut off the tops and put them in freezer bags and put them in the deep freezer. They will be perfect for making smoothies and much cheeper than the already frozen strawberries they sell in the freezer section. Quite a bargain. I put some in the fridge for the girls to snack on and put up 5 pounds in the freezer. :) Yummy. Can not wait to have a smoothie later today. My favorite recipe is as follows:

7-8 Frozen Strawberries
Cup of Cashew Milk
1 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
1 Scoop Protein Powder
Sprinkle of Chia seeds
Add to nutribullet and blend until smooth.
Tastes just like a chocolate covered strawberry.

5 more days to go until I reach my 2nd goal of 20 Days on this plan.
15/90 days reached ~
Keep on juicing. You can do this !

Day 11 Done ! On to Day 12 !!

Day 12 here we go ! As of Day 10 I have lost 15 pounds . That's 15 pounds gone forever !!!! I am not going to weigh again until day 20, or so I say I won't. :) I am going to start incorporating exercise into my plan now as I  now have a goal to look forward to. I signed up for the Biggest Loser 5K Run/Walk Race Series coming to my city on April 19. I can not wait. So I have 6 weeks to train.  6 weeks seems like a long time but actually it isn't. It will be here in no time and I can not wait to see what my results are in 6 weeks from juicing and exercise. Can you? Speaking of.... I will post pictures at that time... from now and day of my race . And then again at the end of my 90 days.
