The Biggest Loser Run Walk 5K

Last weekend I participated in the Biggest Loser 5K. I came in 9th in my age division :) with a time of 1 hour 2 minutes and a walking pace of of 20:12. I think I did pretty good, top 10 is pretty darn good. I have 3 more 5K's lined up in a row, one on May 2nd (Lion's Club Tunnel Vision 5K), then May 9th (Do it in The Bush 5K) then May 16th (Cystic Fibrosis 5K) . After that I won't have any until September (Ovarian Cancer)  and  October 10th (Diabetes) unless I find some this summer to participate in. So in other words, I have the 5K walking bug. LOL It took me all week to recuperate from the Biggest Loser 5K, my back was in pain and I lost a toe nail. from a blister underneath it :( But like they say, No Pain, No Gain.

As far as juicing, I have been doing an occasional smoothie. My last juice was on the morning of the Biggest Loser walk. I am going to start back juicing shortly as I miss it and the nutrients. I slacked off a bit closer to my race day and haven't been  back to it since. :(  But my weight has remained stable which is a good thing. I just need to get back to juicing and the gym. My pause in the gym was due to my foot/toe injury. ouch. But it's all better now. So to the gym I shall go today to get in a good walk on the treadmill and a bit of a work out.

Wheat grass powder

My wheat grass powder just arrived and I made a smoothie with it. It tastes so yummy. It adds a bit of tartness to it but is great. I can't grow anything, I have tried ,I just do noy have a green thumb. And I can't find wheat grass to add to my juices anywhere. I did however, find wheat grass shots at smoothie King for almost $3 a shot (ouch). So I recently learned about wheat grass powder being the next best thing.

So what exactly is wheat grass powder?  And what are the benefits?
Wheat Grass is one of the most potent leafy greens on earth, not to mention a great source of vitamins and minerals. Organic wheat grass naturally detoxifies the body and boost immune systems, metabolism and has been known to lower blood pressure as well. :)

If you are interested in adding wheat grass powder to your juices or smoothies....This is the one I purchased, it was a lot cheaper, on amazon.com. Starwest Botanicals. It was like around $15 for the pound and you only use 1/4 tsp. So I see it lasting quite a long while.




Day 43.....hmmmm

hmmm....last night I did something I am not proud of. We have Easter candy in the house and I was weak....need I say more? I fell hard into old habits and ate jelly beans, then 3 miniature candy bars. I also did not juice at all. I did have 1 smoothie but I have no idea what happened that made me feel like it was OKAY to do this type of eating.  I am not going to beat myself up for it or make myself feel guilty about the also eating strawberry ice cream. I just have to learn to move past this and not do it again. I can't fall back in to old habits. I realize that if I would have just made that smoothie or taken the time to make a juice, I would have been okay and then I could have possibly escaped the clutches of those starburst jellybeans, LOL. So lesson was learned. I just had to put this out there, be honest with myself. And not hide anything.
